What is forest bathing?
Forest bathing, sometimes called Forest Therapy, is a research-based approach for supporting health and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. It is typically a 2- or 3-hour immersive experience in nature where participants are guided through a series of invitations to awaken their senses, slow down, cultivate presence and deepen their relationship with nature. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to “forest bathing,” it is a practice of spending time in forested areas for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness.

Our walks are a 2- to 3- hour experience of immersion in a forest environment. A walk is not a hike, in fact we rarely go farther than a quarter of a mile. We spend time grounding ourselves and slowing down, then round out the experience with tea and reflection, all working in partnership with the land.

Join us for a forest bathing walk honoring the summer solstice where we will use all of our senses to be present, observe the natural world around us, and find a sense of calm and rest. We’ll set intentions and partner with nature to mark the seasonal changes. Tea and snacks will be shared at the conclusion of our walk.
This is a gentle walk rather than a strenuous hike. Please dress comfortably and in layers to manage the weather. We’ll walk rain or shine, except in the case of heavy rain or lightning, when the event will be rescheduled or canceled. More info will be emailed in the days before the event.
